What age can my child starting playing netball?

The Junior Saturday Competition caters for children aged 7 - 19 years.

How much does it cost to play?

Registration fees for the Junior Saturday Comp are announced in January each year.

When does netball season start?

Online registrations usually open mid-late January.  Dolphins commence team selection in late February with training starting after that.  The season usually runs until September - depending on public holidays and school holidays etc.  Keep an eye out for announcements on our social media for when online registrations open or email our Registrar for more information

Can you play netball with piercings taped?

No. Jewellery is not allowed on the court.  This includes watches, necklaces and piercings. It is a requirement of Netball QLD that all piercings be removed prior to taking the court for training or game day.  If your child wants to get their ears pierced, please take this into consideration.

Does my child have to wear the Dolphins t-shirt to training?

Yes.  The Dolphins training shirt is part of the Dolphins compulsory uniform.   When everyone in the team is wearing the same uniform, it instils a sense of belonging and pride to the team.  Uniforms can be ordered through Netball Connect or by emailing our Uniform Convenor.

How do I become a Coach?

We are passionate about helping all our players develop their netball skills and to help our coaches achieve this, we offer ongoing support to all coaches whether it's your first year or you have previous coaching experience.

For more information, please email our Coach Convenor

How do I get involved on the Dolphins Committee?

Thank you!! Clubs can not operate without parent volunteers.  We have a variety of positions on our committee so regardless of the amount of time you can give, we are sure we can find a suitable position. Please contact our President for more information.

Do all ages play the same rules?

Ages 7 - 9 years, use a modified set of rules. We call this age group "Moddies" and they are designed to help develop the child's skills while playing netball games. More information about this can be found on RNA website

Note: There is strictly no scoring for age groups 7-9 years.  The focus is having fun, learning netball rules and developing their skills.  Scoring at this age is not beneficial to the child or team.

10 years play FULL Netball Rule with a size 4 ball each Saturday. Games may be scored but do not count to competition points etc.  Focus on this age group is continuing to develop skills and letting the players try different positions to learn the full game of netball.

Players from 11 years play with size 5 ball with full competition rules and games are scored.

Do all parents have to volunteer?

Yes, our club can not operate without volunteers. By registering your child with Dolphins you are agreeing to volunteer at various times throughout the season.

Here is a basic idea of how you will be required to volunteer:

* Every team is required to have a Team Manager.  This person is responsible for communication to the parents and helping the coach out where required.  By having a Team Manager, it allows our coaches to focus with developing your child's skill.

* If your child is playing on the hard courts, you will be placed on the team scoring roster where you will be required to score the game at least twice in the season.

*  Redlands Netball also roster our club to duty days both with Club Duty (2 times per season) which involves setup/pack up the courts, checking bins and toilets and running the hooter on the grass courts.

*  There is also one BBQ Duty Day (once per season), which is a huge fundraising event for our club. Each team is given a timeslot where at least 6 helpers are required to serve customer and cook BBQ items. We also run a raffle and ask for donation of prizes and baked goods to sell.

*  If your child participates in an RNA Carnival, you will also be required to forfill BBQ duty and possibly bin/toilet checks throughout the day.
